LINKED SOUNDS
Two of the students asked me
What a linked sound is?
I explained that linked sounds are
really important if they want to understand an English native speaker. I gave
to them the following practical guide
Instrucciones: una las consonantes a
la palabra siguiente si es que inicia con una vocal. Observe los ejemplos y
finalice el ejercicio
Everyone
Has a Story in Life
A 24 yearold boy seeingout
from the train’s window shouted…
“Dad, look the treesare going behind!”
Dad smiledanda young couple sitting nearby, lookedat the 24 year old’s childish
behavior with pity, suddenly he again
exclaimed…
“Dad, look the clouds are
running with us!”
The couple couldn’t resist
and said to the old man…
“Why don’t you take your
son to a good doctor?” The old man smiled and said…“
I did and we are just
coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes
today.”
Every single person on the
planet has a story. Don’t judge people before you truly
know them. The truth might
surprise you
Escuche la lectura que el tutor hará y
después lea usted uniendo los sonidos
Recuerden que siempre que vean una
oración traten de unir los sonidos como en el ejercicio, practíquela varias
veces. De esta manera se acostumbrara a unir las palabras automáticamente
adquiriendo fluidez en el idioma.
Para mayor práctica se les recomienda

THE ECLECTIC APPROACH
For the online tutoring I decided to
work with an eclectic approach. That is,
I am using different techniques and a variety of activities from different
methodologies depending
The students have to accomplish
certain amount of units before they have an exam. The units involve speaking,
listening, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar, and even though all these
parts of the language are included in every single unit, they are somehow separated
and with mechanical exercises in vocabulary and grammar. In my opinion, the
students need to study the language mixing at least two skills, including
vocabulary and grammar all in one activity. It also has a teacher’s book, which
tells the teachers exactly what to ask, or what to do in the classroom.
In this sense, I like to use creative
and short exercises with two or more skills integrated as it is shown in the
practical guides. The eclectic approach is also good, because the students are
heterogeneous and, also have specific problems either in specific skills or
sub-skills.
What is a blog?
A blog is another technological tool where the students might post their own points of view. Blog participation might include just one student or even a group of students. In this project, the blog is a support for the tutorías in the sense that students might post their doubts, comments or questions, among other issues. This blog is an educative one.
According to the https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/blog,
a blog is a regularly
updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or a small
group that is written in a conversational style. On the other hand, the
Cambridge dictionary http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/blog,
define it as a regular record of your thoughts, feelings, opinions, or experiences that you put on the Internet for
other people to read. In this project I follow the second definition, because the students
post their opinions, experiences, comments and challenges when they are learning
the L2 English.
The blog focuses mainly on the
students and the posts are divided into different sections such as home page,
welcome to the blog, instructions, motivational posts, study skills, tips, questions,
challenging areas of the language, activities, and a glossary, among others.
MUESTRA DE LA SECCIÓN WELCOME!
Estimado tutorado te doy la
bienvenida a este blog, asimismo te doy las gracias por haber tomado la
decisión de unirte a este grupo de tutoría en línea para auto acceso, lugar en
donde iniciaremos la aventura de aprendizaje
virtual juntos.
En este blog manejaremos la tutoría asincrónica y
lo puedes usar con la frecuencia que tú quieras. Es decir, en este espacio
puedes dejar planteadas, preguntas, dudas, opiniones, aportaciones o
simplemente recomendar una actividad o ejercicio que haya sido benéfico para tu
autoaprendizaje.
Todo lo que dejes planteado en el blog te será
contestado de la manera más efectiva, atenta y oportuna posible.

Grammar guide
GRAMMAR
One of the students asked me teacher “how do I use grammar when I speak?”.
That was a lovely question, as it gave me the opportunity to explain how
important it might be in their speech.
EXAMPLE OF A GUIDE FOR GRAMMAR
1. Ve el diagrama y lee las 8 partes esenciales del habla
TIP
You use all those parts of
the speech every single day and those are the basic ones.

Speaking guide
SPEAKING
The speaking skill also has
sub-skills as do the other skills of the language (reading, writing and
listening). For instance, I can mention some of them: pronunciation, word
order, using appropriate vocabulary, using the appropriate language register,
building an argument, just to name a few. Furthermore, this skill is strongly related
to communication.
It is very important to take into
account the level of the students in order to plan the speaking guide. Usually
the speaking/communicative activities are interactive and also make the
students’ learning meaningful and enjoyable and ready to use in real life. Some
activities I use in the online tutoring are: describing pictures, role plays,
give opinions and short comments, ask true/false questions, interviews, give/ask
for directions, and talking to friends on the telephone.
EXAMPLE OF A GUIDE FOR SPEAKING
With
this guide, the students work a wide variety of aspects such as general
knowledge, reflection, organisation of ideas, use of the target language, pronunciation
and communication. In addition, students read, listen and produce the language.
